Music, Laughter, homeland security, is an American umbrella term for the national effort to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards. It aims to create an environment where American interests, aspirations, and ways of life can thrive. The national effort includes preventing terrorist attacks within the United States, reducing vulnerability to terrorism, and minimizing damage from attacks that occur. It is important to note that homeland security is not limited to terrorist incidents. Terrorism is just one of the many threats that endanger society in the United States. Therefore, an all-hazards approach is necessary in homeland security endeavors. This means that homeland security must address a wide range of situations and scenarios, including natural disasters (such as Hurricane Katrina) and acts of terrorism (such as the Boston Marathon bombing). The term "homeland security" originated after the enactment of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, which led to the reorganization of various US government civil agencies and the formation of the United States Department of Homeland Security on March 1st, 2003. The term can also refer to the actions of this department, as well as the efforts of the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and the United States House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security. Additionally, homeland defense (HD) involves the military protection of US territory, sovereignty, domestic population, and critical infrastructure against external threats and aggression.
