Citizenship, it seems like a simple evaluation - right? There are either US citizens or non-US citizens. But it could very well be an inquiry you have to make at times for employees. Citizenship is identified on the i9, and Kate talked about how to verify it. But we actually have a form available, and hopefully everybody is using it. If you're wondering about how to gather information and how to make some of these evaluations, this form can walk you through the process. So, this is a screenshot of the front page of the Request for Alien Information form. You'll notice it says "Request for Alien Information for Employees and Fellows." There's also one for employees and fellows who are tied to our payroll processing site. There's also one available on the AP procedures, and it says "Miscellaneous Income" for those. On the AP side, we have independent contractors, rents, royalties, or participant stipends. The front page of this form is key, especially for a lot of determinations. The date the person entered the US and the visa type code are important. It doesn't have to be the date they came to work or do things with us; it's the date they entered the US. So, it counts into something we'll see later on - counting days. For non-citizen situations, we're going to need this information, among other things. This information can then be entered on the payroll side. On the AP side, you'd hold that form for documentation. When we talk about IRS residency for tax purposes, there are four types: US citizens, permanent residents (having a green card), resident aliens, and non-resident aliens.
