Let's go 325, you can do it! Go katsu 26.2 miles. Three hours, 21 minutes, and 53 seconds per mile for an average per mile time of seven minutes and 42 seconds. Overall, I had an up-and-down day at the Indianapolis Marathon. I had a pretty good day with my running, but I was really bummed about not achieving my goal. I was so incredibly close. But today, we'll talk about all of that as I recap my Indianapolis marathon 2018 race. There were some nice surprises that I encountered during the race. One of them was the unexpected amount of crowd support. I had been running without music for my recent races and found that drawing energy from the crowd was enjoyable. However, I had watched some other Indianapolis videos that showed little to no crowd support along the race route, except for a concentrated area downtown and at the start and finish. So, seeing regular crowd support throughout the neighborhoods was a pleasant surprise. Additionally, there were many kids out cheering on the runners, which was really rejuvenating. One of the highlights of the race was our pace group. We had a fantastic pacer who did an excellent job of keeping us all together for as long as possible. We had a solid group in the 325 pace group, with many of us striving to achieve our goal time. On the other hand, there were a couple of things about the race that I didn't like so much. On the morning of the race, it was nice that we could wait inside the Convention Center due to the chilly weather. However, the bathroom line was incredibly long and took forever.
