They can easily retrieve it from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and may even demand that you provide this information before granting residency or allowing you to avoid deportation. Therefore, it is crucial that this year, as you prepare for your taxes or review previous tax filings, you pay attention to four important points. Firstly, consider what address is stated on the tax return. Do not provide an address where you do not actually live unless you specify it as a mailing address. In the future, when providing evidence for an immigration case, you may be asked for your address history, including addresses from the past five or ten years. These addresses must match the information on your federal tax return. Otherwise, you may be asked to explain why you provided false information to the IRS, which could impact your credibility. The second important point relates to your marital status. It is imperative that your tax return accurately reflects your marital status, especially if you claim to be married in your immigration documents.
