Hello, my name is Glen Lee Roberts. I wrote this book on how to renounce your United States Citizenship in two easy steps. I discovered that the process was a lot easier than what most people online have to say about it. There are two significant parts to it, and I will describe and reenact the most important part in this video. This part is known as the oath of renunciation, or as the Embassy calls it, the renunciation ceremony. Before getting into the ceremony, you will have to fill out some paperwork, which is not very complicated. The US counsel will then read you a notice with 12 points explaining why you should not renounce your citizenship. In my book, I include copies of all the necessary documents, including the forms that I filled out and signed for my renunciation. This will help you understand how easy the process is, as well as the reasons why you may reconsider renouncing your citizenship. After completing the paperwork and attending your initial meeting or interview, you will have to return to the embassy at least a week later to participate in the renunciation ceremony. Before delving into the ceremony, I will read from the US State Department manual on renouncing citizenship. The entire manual is included in my book, so you can see the process described directly by the State Department. According to the manual, renunciation ceremonies should always be held inside the embassy, in a setting that reminds the renunciant of the gravity of the consequences. Even though you have been informed of the reasons not to renounce, and you have studied them on your own, they create an environment that is serious and not friendly.
